RIP Stepa J. Groggs

Stepa J Groggs at Made in America 2018

Injury Reserve had been one of my favorite groups to listen to over the last couple of years. The loss of Stepa J. Groggs this past week is shocking and saddening as the group just dropped their major debut album last year, and had been releasing new music over the past few months.

Groggs was a student of Bay Area rap by way of Tempe, Arizona. Throughout Injury Reserve’s discography he was always open and honest regarding facing the ups and downs in life being there for his children.

A couple of Standouts that Groggs shows lyricism and level-headedness towards his family on Keep on Slippin, Gravy & Biscuits, North Pole and What a Year it’s Been.

Groggs has the first verse on these songs. His work with Injury Reserve making a statement as one of the major rap groups out from Arizona should never be understated.
